WHAT'S HAPPENING

Chaplain Williams writes, “I have met an Afghan doctor who is an American citizen and she is over here [in
are always asking her for baby formula. Many of us are hoping that the small things we do for the Afghans
will mean that one day they will follow us and not the Taliban. We pray that maybe 20 or 30 or 50 years from
now, they will remember our kindness and we will hear of a free and somewhat prosperous country.”
For the same reasons Chaplain Williams, an LCMS chaplain, also asks that items for children be sent of hats,
gloves/mittens, scarves, socks, and underwear. These would be given out at hygiene and first aid clinics to
boys and girls. Winters can be cold in Bagram with plenty of snow.
The ladies of Faith In Christ Lutheran Church have taken upon themselves the challenge in participating in
this project. On October 18th, 2010, seven women met in the evening at Faith In Christ Lutheran Church to
learn more about this project to assist with the American chaplains in Afghanistan. From there, those of all
knitting and crocheting skill levels have made an abundant amount of hats, scarves, and gloves. Our first
box was shipped to Afhanistan on December 1st, 2010. May God bless each recipient of those clothing
items made with God’s love.
The Knit and Crochet group at Faith in Christ Lutheran Church welcomes all people with any craft and of all
ages. We have named ourselves, Faithful Hands. Faithful Hands meet every Monday evening at 6:00 p.m.
at Faith In Christ Lutheran Church. All supplies are available through various donations which we are greatly
thankful. We simply ask that each person bring themselves and perhaps some good (or bad, we don’t mind)
conversation and fellowship.
A new Ministry helps keep
Afghan children warm.
